Privacy policy — About Right
Last updated: 23 August 2026
The short version
About Right collects nothing, sends nothing, and needs no account. Everything the app records stays on the device it was recorded on. There is no server to send it to.
If you delete the app, the record goes with it. Nobody — including us — has a copy.
What the app stores
On your device, and only there:
- Answers to questions — which question, what was chosen, whether it was right, how long it took, and whether the "what is this asking?" button was pressed.
- Progress — which skills have been practised, when they are next due, and which are holding.
- Setup — the prices entered during setup, and the settings chosen.
- A first name, if one is entered. It is optional and it is only used to say hello.
What the app does not do
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for and no way to sign in.
- No network. A full daily session works with the device in aeroplane mode. The app does not transmit answers, progress, usage, crashes or anything else.
- No analytics. There is no third-party analytics SDK in the app. Not a disabled one — no SDK at all.
- No advertising. No ads, no ad networks, no advertising identifiers, no tracking.
- No in-app purchases.
- No location, camera, microphone or contacts. These permissions are explicitly blocked in the app's manifest.
- No profiling, and no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Children
About Right is intended for children as well as adults. It is designed to comply with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and with the UK and EU rules on children's data (GDPR-K and the Age Appropriate Design Code).
Because the app collects no personal information and transmits nothing, there is nothing to obtain parental consent for, nothing to disclose to a third party and nothing to delete from a server.
Age is never requested. A diagnosis is never requested, and is never a required field anywhere in the product.
Your control
- Export. Everything the app has recorded can be exported as a file from inside the app, without asking anyone.
- Delete. Everything can be erased from inside the app. Deleting the app also erases it.
- No dark patterns. There is no streak to lose, no progress that can be taken away, and nothing designed to extend a session.
If this ever changes
If a future version sends anything anywhere — for example, optional sync so a second carer sees the same record — it will be off by default, it will say plainly what it sends before it sends anything, and this policy will be updated before that version ships.
